The distance

I am, as always, unsure.

What is the correct distance to maintain in order to ensure that it doesn't appear that I'm trying to make things any more than what they are? I think I may have been too cautious on Friday night. That, paired with an intent to not be a wallflower leading to having a conversation with her co-worker that was later characterized as flirtatious, makes me wonder if I did indeed screw up.
