I'd like to thank my local grocery store for finally sparing me the annoyance of having to have *any* human contact in my life by installing a "self-checkout" system. As a work-at-home guy with little or no social life, I was able to make a few friends out of unwilling cashiers. No more need for that though... if I'm feeling anti-social, I can now go weeks without any actual contact.
This is a good thing?
Wait one second...you still have the choice to go through the "full-service" checkout, thus getting a dose of human contact. Remember they are not forcing you to use the self-checkout.
ReplyDeleteAh... but no one is forcing me to be social even when I don't feel like it. Mind you, if one isn't in the mood to chat, it's not like a cashier makes you.
