Still Learning

Things I’ve learned recently:

1) Ritalin makes you less creative. (Creative people have fewer dopamine receptors, Ritalin increases dopamine levels.)

2) A two year old will learn their colours and numbers much faster if you state the trait after the object. (e.g. “the balloon is red” instead of the “the red balloon”, and “Flowers, there are two” instead of “There are two flowers”.)

3) Levels of eccentricity and creativity correlate.  (This is supposed to be genetic, but as I become more normalized and boring in my behaviour, I become less creative.  It could be the ritalin.)

4) You will lose weight and be healthier if you replace carbohydrates (especially quickly absorbed ones) with fat. Ironically, the lower the fat content of your diet, the higher the fat content of your body. Insulin is the mechanism.  (Bringing that home, I recently found out that a friend, a former bandmate who became diabetic, has lost 17 pounds in 5 months and no longer needs to take medication to treat his diabetes.)

5) Writing styles are indicative of relationship compatibility. You will be happier with someone who communicates like you do.  (Does this explains my attraction to certain bloggers?)

Questions I need to ask:

1) Would I rather be creative, or make money?

2) How do I change the world without seeming crazy in the process?
