Upswelling

Recently, Google Play Music added the Beatles to their library. I haven't listened to the Beatles since I was a kid, but when a "feeling lucky" suggestion was to listen to "The End" from the Abbey Road album, I went along with the idea.

There's not much to the song. I have only ever liked the last thirty seconds or so where it breaks down into piano, vocals and strings, with the lyrics that give it its title:

And in the end
The love that you take
Is equal to the love
You make

Unexpectedly I felt a wave of sadness wash over me as I sang along with this, tears welling in my eyes.

Even just writing that paragraph here, I had the same reaction.

Where the fuck is that coming from?
