It is the trilogy's finale, and a weak one at best.
I knew going into it that this family vacation was going to be a pale shadow of past ones, and it is that so far.
Even past trips were flawed, as the boys usually preferred at first to stay inside and do nothing, or to shop, only doing more and enjoying it once I dragged them out. By now, we've seen and done the things that would have interest for teenagers, and even for me, for the most part. It has put the emphasis on the boring aspects.
Admittedly, one of the boys is under great stress as he has brought along enough homework to fill each day, and is trying to quit smoking. This may be sabotaging the dynamic.
We have two highlights from the past that I still have the hope of recreating - a drive around the island, and visiting with friends.
Let's hope that they are a success, for if not, this trip's only purpose was to prove that this trip was a bad idea.
