Odds

Or "the evolutionary aspect of fearful behaviour".

Beyond the constant drumbeat of media and societal fearmongering, there is another reason we tend to avoid risks, even the slightest.

We have survived this long because of unreasonable fear.

If we are wrong about a shadow being a bear, we survive. If we are wrong about a bear being a shadow, we don't.

I nonetheless posit that as rational beings we can, nay must, evaluate risks logically and override our innate and trained fears.
