Today was a record.

I played 3 consecutive games - it was the first time anyone picked me up to join them as a guest players, and I did well enough in one game to be invited back for a second. I couldn't be happier. Or more sore.

Meanwhile life with the dark-haired girl continues on its same trajectory. With anyone else I would have been pensive about lulls like the one in our conversation at brunch this morning, but I've adjusted to the circumstances. Once in awhile I still have concerns about what we might talk about, but other aspects of our relationship remain good. We regularly spend a night or two a week over at each other's place, treat each other well, and from what I can tell are two nice people getting along just fine. Today I called her and asked her to bring me water so that I could play the third game, and she even supplied me with a shirt to change into. She's a sweet person. :-)

There are ripples occasionally, caused by my ex, but that's still not completely avoidable, unfortunately. Tonight's ripple was a request to have me buy something for her, while on my way over from the dark-haired girls place to pick up the boys. At first the dark-haired girl thought it was one of the boys making a request, and offered to help me out because I didn't have my wallet. When I explained the situation, there was a moment of understandable disbelief, "it was your wife asking for that?"

"Ex-wife," I corrected. "She's always willing to ask for favours."

Sigh. C'est la vie.

Mais la vie avec la fille avec les cheveux foncés est bien.
