The Geek is taking a tour of four countries in south east Asia and the end of next month, and had invited me to join her after our third date. It was tempting, but my work schedule meant that it was not possible.
Now we've been seeing each other for over six weeks, and she has suggested that if she were to move her trip to November I could come along. The change in plans would cost her over a thousand dollars, although I would share that cost simply because I'm able to and want to join her.
I know the rule of thumb is to never makes plans with someone that will take place after a period longer than you've been together (in this case over six weeks), and it's a pretty crazy idea, but I'm still considering it.
30 days, 4 countries, 1 lover (not officially a girlfriend). Not much sleep, definitely some stress. Wondrous sights and food with a like-minded partner. Risky. Fun. Ridiculously impetuous. But... I want to say yes to whatever comes my way. I'd rather regret doing something than not doing something.
So...
What to do?
I guess that all depends on your relationship with her. That would be the determining factor for me but I think it could be extremely awkward and uncomfortable if you guys break up before then. That's a pretty good chunk of time from now and you've already broken up once. ?
ReplyDeleteSo much for taking things slow? ;)
