After work I went over to the Geek's place. She had dressed up quite wonderfully... the short black dress, high heels, ruby red lips, even straightened her hair. I checked to ensure that she had followed my instructions as to undergarments, and she had.
As a result, going out to dinner had to wait a bit while we addressed our more immediate needs.
Once we were fully messed up, we cleaned up once again, and went to the restaurant where both she and I, as it turns out, regularly took our previous prospects for date number one or two. It was strange in a way that neither of us had suggested it before.
After regaling me with stories of close-call escapes and inept men who'd lost their wallets, she got to the topic we needed to talk about. "So... are we changing the date?"
I outlined some pros and cons, and she said it was simple, yes or no. I said it was complicated, and therefore probably a decision best made with the gut. "What does your gut say?"
"I go back and forth."
"Then, no then."
"Yes, there should be no changes to your plan."
She said she was a bit frightened about going alone, but I suggested that it was for that exact reason that it was best that she go alone. It is a much different experience to travel alone than with someone, and although it would have its difficult and lonely moments, it was an opportunity for self-enlightenment.
"Ok. No changes. Let's not speak of that possibility again then," she said, and I agreed.
