Upon occasion, I read a showbusiness daily called "Studio Briefing" (http://us.imdb.com/news/sb/) and I ran across something today that tied in to a discussion I had earlier tonight. There was an article wherein Rev Wildmon was crowing about how his organization had blocked a TV series and a Will & Grace episode. The pride in this struck me as just wrong. At the same time I thought of someone I met recently who crowed about their hatred of all things religious, and that too struck me as just wrong. Just because someone agrees with me (eg. athiesm) doesn't mean I agree with them (eg. prejudice).
One woman I dated believed that the universe (a.k.a. God) had brought me into her life for a purpose. (The reason I say "a.k.a." is that whenever we talked about philosophy she would say it was the universe, at least until a point was reached where she felt comfortable enough with me to say it was God.) We had many discussions, and found a lot of common ground. We accepted each other, accepted each other's beliefs. We didn't need to judge or change each other. And that was, I suppose, one of the things we had in common.
