So, how did I end up thinking about "National Lampoon's Disco Beaver From Outer Space" tonight?
As I attempt to buckle down and get some work and housecleaning done, despite a continuing lack of sleep and a toothache which the dentist tells me has nothing to do with my teeth, I am pondering my quest for a long-lasting relationship. It takes time, not just in terms of having to be patient and go through a long process, but also in the sense that you need to devote a certain number of minutes and hours per day to that process.
The question asked of me earlier today was why settle? And I had a few reasonable reasons as to why I would want to continue pursuing something which wasn't going to work out in the end. But I've thought of one more: all that time I've invested, all that hope, and now I have to start all over again. Again! :-)
But that's the way it is.
Oh, and I saw this movie when I was a kid, probably 11 or 12, from National Lampoon. There are two things I remember: a mugger who curses his victim upon finding out he has stolen nothing but Canadian currency, and an East Indian man who wanders the streets of New York asking, "excuse me, sir, do you have the time?" only to always get the same response: F.U. :-)
Maybe there's a tie in there after all...
